What were his parents thinking!? You don't let an eight year old kid go door to door. My parents never would have let me go door to door when I was eight. I'd have asked him where his parents were.

And no, I wouldn't have folded. Kids deal with "no thankyou" better than a lot of people give them credit for.

I'm glad your mom asked him some questions and let him meet the dog.

No, I would not sign. First it starts with the pitties and before you know it
rotties, gsds, chows and the like will be banned.

We plan on moving in a year because our HOA did a breed ban. Sharpeis are on the list. I have 2 pei mixes and they are the sweetest things ever. Not like the jrt across the street.

As for allowing your 8 year old out alone?! The parents must have been out of their mind. I have three boys and I know there whereabouts. I also know who their neighborhood friends are and know their parents. None of them know stranger danger because of being moved about so much in the foster system. So that is an even bigger risk.

The parents should not have allowed their son to go door to door for a petition. If the parents were attempting to streamline him into society, they should have been there with him.

I'd have no problem telling any kid no for anything. Heck I've told adults no when they came to have a petition signed to get speed bumps put on our street. Actually I told that I would under no circumstances sign it and if even after going over them at 0mph I still ended up with damage to the under neath of my car I'd then sue the HOA for doing something so stupid. My car sits very low to the ground and I have to go over any speed bump at 0mph to make sure I don't end up with damage because of the stupid things.
It would make any difference to me who came to my door with a petition for a breed ban. I wouldn't sign it. Although I'm pretty good at telling anyone no. Unless they are selling girl scout cookies or the kids across the street selling something for school.

We've got the same issue with our STI, and it's even had it's suspension jacked up from the stock height!
I always cringe when we drive over one, or there's a large dip in the road. :/

No way would I sign. The lives of dogs versus a kid's feelings? Seriously? I would feel sorry for the kid to some extent, but the kid will get over his hurt feelings- the dogs euthinized won't get better, and the heartache of the familys is NOT worth giving in to the pleading eyes of a child, hanicapped or no.

Sorry if this sounds overly harsh, I just know I value the lives of my animals over the feelings of any person. (I don't personally own a pit at this point, but I do own a chow, and like someone said, chows aren't far behind pits on ban lists.)
