Post subject: CT Need TEMPORARY home for a friendly boxer/pit mix

My home was flooded and recently FEMA has determined that it is currently unsafe to inhabit and will be until major repairs can be made to my house. While temporary housing is relatively easy to find for myself and my daughter, I have as yet been unable to find an affordable place (one that fits within the temporary housing allowance from the FEMA assistance) that will take my dog.I imagine that the repairs would take about a month, and I cannot afford a kennel for that long a period of time, as I will also have to continue paying my mortgage during this time (Kia wouldn't do well in a kennel situation anyway, she loves people and prefers to be around them).

Does anyone have any information as to where I could look for temporary emergency placement for my dog? The thought of being away from her is breaking my heart , but I don't have much choice at this point.I would like to find a place that would make her comfortable.

I welcome any suggestions. Thanks

I am sorry for the damage done to your house. Have you tried contacting any local rescues? They may have someone who can foster short term. Or they may know of someplace you can board for a reduced cost. I know you said she doesn't do well kenneled, but there may be no other choice.

Post subject: Looking to foster in CT

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello. My name is Melissa and I am new to petfinder. I have never really lived in an area that was pet friendly until now. I have a large home with a fenced back yard and a huge front yard with little to no traffic in Old Saybrook.
I have been on this website for 2 weeks straight, crying, and wishing I could take them all. Of course I cannot, but what I found I can do is foster. If anyone knows how I should go about this, or who has an animal that is in CT and in danger of being killed that I could help please let me know. My e-mail is swttkr1@yahoo.com if you think I could help. It's the next best thing to being able to adopt all of the unwanted animals on the planet. Instead of adopting only one, I can help lots.
Thanks so much for your time, and for all that you all do for these poor animals. Maybe if people start being punished for what they do to these animals there won't be so many in here. If you left your kid in a cage with no food or water or exercize you go to jail. Why is it any different for these animals that have the same feelings ?

Heartbroken in CT !!!undefined
