my poor little guy had really been suffering the last few days from the nose tumor. he could barely breathe and this morning the whole side of his face was puffy and his eye was swollen shut. he was clearly in pain,and I did not want to see him hurt anymore.As hard as this was, it was the right thing. so we took him to the vet and stayed with him until the end. I told him what a good little friend he was for 13 years and now there would be no more pain. it was over very quick and peacefully. He died on a pretty spring day, no scary thunderstorms. right now he's probably being welcomed by my former dogs Muffin and Boogy. run free, little man. no more pain, no more nosebleeds, and all the puperoni you can eat. Mom and Dad will see you again someday.We are going to plant a pretty tree or bush in the yard just for you. Never forget "our" song- You're My Best Friend" by Queen

I am so very sorry for your loss. I know it is one of the hardest things we ever have to do to make that final decision. I know Oscar is in a wonderful place now and playing with all the other babies who have crossed the bridge. You are in my prayers! Crying or Very sad

Hi Oscarmom,

Attempted to respond to your message on NOLA, but did something wrong and it posted as a new message (ugh).

Just wanted to say I'm so very sorry to see your post today. Sending (((hugs))) your way.

This is a poem I cam accross a few years back that I really love. It always makes me smile and cry (the ending is a very good mental picture for me as I can just see them come busting thru the doggie door with an ear-to-ear grin):

HEAVEN'S DOGGY-DOOR My best friend closed his eyes last night, As his head was in my hand.The Doctors said he was in pain, And it was hard for him to stand.

The thoughts that scurried through my head, As I cradled him in my arms.Were of his younger, puppy years, And OH...his many charms.

Today, there was no gentle nudge With an intense "I love you gaze",Only a heart thats filled with tears Remembering our joy filled days.

But an Angel just appeared to me, And he said, "You should cry no more,GOD also loves our canine friends, HE's installed a 'doggy-door"!

Oh, I am just sooooo sorry to hear that. Thank goodness he isn't suffering anymore though. Will keep you and your family in my prayers.

I just checked in to see how Oscar was and I'm so sorry to hear the very sad news. I hope the memories of the wonderful life you gave him give you comfort. Give his pal Felix an extra pat-you'll both be needing some extra affection and support.

I am so sorry that your beloved Oscar has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Know that you gave him a wonderful life, and will see him again some day.

I'm so sorry to hear about Oscar. It's never easy to get a beloved friend go. You put your needs aside and did what was right for Oscar that is the greatest act of love. He will also know how much you love him. I pray that God will give peace and comfort you in lose.

Hi i am so sorry to here about Oscar you must remember that you gave him a good home

he was loved by you & by many of your frinds on the Nola board

We all know what its like to loose a pet we love so much.
They are part of our family .

I'm so sorry to hear that Oscar has gone to the Bridge. You did the best thing for him - loving him enough to release him from his pain. Hugs to you.
