MESA, Ariz. -- The dog rescued from Hurricane Katrina is going back to the Louisiana woman who says she is the rightful owner -- not the California couple who adopted it, an Arizona judge has ruled.
The floodwaters that surged after the hurricane hit in 2005 forced Paula Duming to leave her dog named Pablo behind in Chalmette.
She said her dog, which was rescued by an animal rescue crew, ended up with Dustin Jones and Wendy Shieh of San Diego, who named it Boots.
Judge Christopher Whitten ordered the dog returned to Duming.
