| I used to get 5 hours of sleep pretty regularly, but because of some recent health issues, I am now lucky if I get between 2 and 4 hours. |

I have to get too much sleep - I feel like I sleep way too much - about 7 - 8 hours and I hate it. I miss the days when I was totally refreshed in 4 - 5 hours a night. Boy, what I couldn't get done in those extra 2 - 3 hours.
I keep trying to retrain myself but it doesn't work. Going to bed a little later but I feel it the next day. _________________

I voted 6 to 7. I sleep about 5 to 6 hours on weeknights, probably about 8 hours on Saturdays. On Sunday, I take a nap (anywhere around 3 to 5 hours) to catch up, but then I can't sleep much that night so it cancels out (I'm always tired on Mondays having slept like 2 hours or so).
I've pulled all-nighters many many times cramming in high school and in college. I still have to do some when there are server troubles that need fixing right away at work, and I do an all-nighter at least one night every business trip (I gotta take 2 a year). I've also pulled a 2-night all-nighters once when the servers were in deep poo. That wasn't fun. |

I get between 5 and 6 hours of sleep and I'm always tired. I know it's not enough for me but I don't have time to sleep any more!
On the weekends Toby MIGHT let me sleep in till 8:00. But I go to bed really late on the weekends so I end up getting less sleep than the weekdays. duh, why don't I just go to bed earlier??
How do you guys function on less than 5 hours of sleep? _________________

| I would say if I added up all of the minutes of sleep I get per night, it would be 4 to 5 hours. My husband snores VERY loudly and he tosses and turns all night long GRRRRR! I'm seriously thinking about sleeping in another room from now on. I never feel rested. |

It is incredibly hard for me to function if I do not get at least 8 hours of sleep.
And when I am tired I get grouchy, irritable, and incredibly bitch(y). I have no patience when I am tired.
I am normally in bed by 9pm (normally earlier than that) and the dogs wake me up around 5:45am.
edited to add : I don't ever get to sleep in. The dogs and their whining for breakfast always gets me up by 6am. But according to DH (who gets up at 3am) I always sleep in.

So it sounds like babies are the biggest sleep deprivation...that includes the large snoring male babies that so many of you sleep next to each night! I can kind of understand...when my dad snores it resonates throughout the entire house!

I used to be like that...the beginning of this school year was when I went from 8 hours of sleep a night to an average of 5 hours...at first I was incredibly irritable for a couple weeks. I guess you just have to become accustomed to less sleep...I still feel tired on nights that I only get 4 hours of sleep, but I can usually function okay on 5 hours.
And I surprised myself last week...I only got 2 and a half hours of sleep one night and the next day I was more awake than I've ever been. _________________

I understand the not getting sleep because of snoring. My dad snores terribly loundly. I'm actually glad that when we visit my parents house my dad sleeps in the basement. He fixed up one of the rooms really nicely and that is his bedroom. We sleep upstairs and that is enough distance that you don't hear his snoring. My mom because of her back problems usually sleeps in a recliner, and for the past year because of her parents deteriorating health she sleeps at their house. _________________

At first you walk around like the living dead and actually want to die then you get used to it. |

| If I get more than about five hours of sleep, I have a hard time getting going during the day. |
