she does not. she has a carrier to put her in. she thinks cocoa has been feeding on rats in the abandoned house. she will not come near people even if you open a can of wet food, the kind she used to eat. will she be able to me domesticated again??

If you hang on a bit... will try to get you info about folks doing trapping who can help. If it takes a while, how can I get info to you?

Also, cats are amazingly resilient creatures! She'll give you a hard time when you get her in just cause she's MAD! But a little cuddling, a little warmth, and lots of good food, she'll be back to herself in no time. You might want to take her to vet to have a quick checkup though just to make sure she's OK. ALso, if she's matted, try not to bathe her as that makes the mats worse. Better to try and cut out the mats and maybe just use a washcloth so sort of wipe away the grime!!

KEeping my fingers crossed!

Hi,

you can call arno , they set traps. Here is the info:

2/18/06—ARNO UPDATE
Resident Leaders Build Future for NOLA Animals
http://www.AnimalRescueNewOrleans.com

ARNO LOCATION
271 Plauche St., Harahan, Louisiana 70123
Cross street: Edwards (off of Jefferson Highway)
ARNO main line: 504-571-1900

Also, I have several cats picked up from the street. It took me some time , but now they are sleeping in my bed and they are very friendly,
even towards strangers. Cats know who loves them . If the cat has lived in your house, she will be very happy to come home again. Cats love the easy life, the food , the beds,...She will love you just like before.

Good luck and keep us updated

Ingrid

OK--info on Arno posted--call them and they should be able to help--its not easy to trap a cat that's a little ticked off! And I bet Cocoa is plenty that!

Keep us posted! Give her a big hug from everybody who has looked at her picture over and over the last few months!

Hi, This is great news!!! I'll keep you both in my prayers! When trapping the smellier the better always seemed to work for me, esp. if I warmed it up a bit, but I don't know if you're able to do that being how the conditions are and everything .Hot water or broth mixed in it might help and you can bring that in a thermos or bottle. Bach rescue remedy can help once you get her and also Young Living Essential Oils, let me know and I can tell you which ones have worked wonders with mine especially with my foster pup. Positive thoughts are being sent your way! ts

A couple of trapping tricks... Warm tuna, warm Kentucky Fried Chicken==don't ask me why KFC but it works... and once you get her in the house, don't let her out no matter what....

Also, you might want to call Arno anyway right now. There's a whole lot of trapping going on and you don't want somebody trapping her and losing her again!

If she's been eating rats, you'll want to talk to a vet about worming her as well...

This is GRAND news. You really need to either coax the cat in person OR trap it. See if this person can get a photo of the cat for you.
I am so happy to hear that your parents are moving back. It will be a lot of work to clean up, but this is home, and this is where they will be happiest,.....especially if Cocoa has been waiting for them all this time!

thank you gemee... i did not see this.

OMG marshkl i am sooo happy for you !!! Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

yes cocoa needs to be trapped. she's very hungry so i bet a trap
will work.

whoever spotted her needs to put out some dry food and water
for her near your parents house to keep her in the area so she
does not leave looking for food.

then when the trappers are ready to set the humane trap for her
they can stop putting out the dry food so cocoa goes straight for
the smelly food in the trap.

i cover my traps as it seems to get them in as they are not distracted
once they walk inside.

after your parents get cocoa home they can't let her out for a number
of reasons. she will have no clue where she is. it might be best to make
her an indoor only kitty whereever they move to.

lots and lots of prayers being sent marshkl !!!!

Lol PB! I was thinking that you had not scrolled down and seen the very latest news as of today. I was wondering how on earth the other thread had past this one up.
I SOOOOOOhope that this story with have a happy ending shortly!!!
By the way, the other persian that I had posted about the other day, that needed a home,....it has found one, I heard. marshkl had posted that she would foster it. Maybe things work out for a reason, and that is why the other kitty found a home, because maybe Cocoa is coming home soon. Let's pray!
