Meet PORTER!

MEET PORTER!

While named after a rich, full body dark beer, Porter is actually a cute little potato with legs! And this potato is on the hunt for his forever couch. Porter was found as a stray in the Philly burbs and ended up in the shelter at the estimated age of 13. Luckily, he joined us here at City of Elderly Love so we could get him the care a senior pet needs to feel their best!

We'd guess that Porter is a Chihuahua or MinPin mix. He weighs just under 20 lbs. Porter's favorite place to be is right next to you (preferably curled up on the couch). He loves to snuggle up next to you and stick his head under a blanket. He gives kisses, nuzzles and will act like your adorable little shadow. Porter's an easy-going quiet guy who surprised us when we first heard him bark. As you might have noticed, Porter is blind due to age-related cataracts. Despite being blind he gets around well and after a little bit of time to explore, learns his surroundings quickly. He'll give little barks if he does get lost and might need help figuring it out. He's currently living in foster care with other dogs and is comfortable around them! He may not want to romp around and wrestle with them, he is fine with sharing their space and snuggling with them on the dog bed or couch. If he sleeps in his crate or puppy pen, he may wake up a little earlier than you but if he gets the chance to sleep in bed with you, he'll sleep till noon!

Porter does have some medical considerations to keep in mind. Our vet believes he suffered from untreated lymes disease for a long time that attacked his kidneys. As a result, they don't work as well as they should so he eats a supportive prescription kidney diet (which he enjoys!). He only has a few teeth left after his dental cleaning and extractions so does best with wet food. He also takes a daily blood pressure medication and a cough medication to help suppress a cough which doesn't seem to bother him. Porter does have a little age-related incontinence so he wears a washable belly band during the day while in his foster home. He'll get up and do some circles to let you know he needs to go outside to go potty. While he may need a little help navigating these issues, Porter is a little love who deserves to spend his golden years with those who cherish him!

Porter is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Interested in adopting him? Visit cityofelderlylove.org to complete an adoption questionnaire or email us at info@cityofelderlylove.org!
