Liza Bean
from Elizabeth Lujambio of Marley's Pit Stop Rescue, Los Angeles
Marley's Pit Stop will receive a free phone consultation from Victoria -- as will the family who adopts Liza Bean. Follow Liza Bean's progress on our blog.
Elizabeth Lujambio writes: Liza Bean has been available for adoption for more than two years! While painfully shy, stunning Liza gets a lot of adoption interest. However, she has been returned three times because her new guardians could not deal with her excessive shyness.
Liza hides in her crate, and when one can get her out, runs around looking for another place to hide. The good news is that she has bonded with her foster mom and even dances when one says, "ladies in the house."
We know there is a *pooch* in there somewhere who needs Victoria's help accessing her inner puppy.
Liza Bean is available for adoption on Petfinder.com.
Our Runners-Up
These four groups will receive copies of the Petfinder.com Adopted Dog Bible.
Ollie
from Kyra Collins of Jack Russell Rescue Oregon Washington & Idaho, Clatskanie, OR
Ollie has TWO behavioral issues which need amending.
The first is excitement nipping: When one is throwing a ball or getting breakfast ready for the foster dogs - anything which amps up the excitement level - he nips at pants legs or hands (if they are available).
The second is chewing wood. Despite large amounts of exercise, lots of non-crate time and the company of other dogs, Ollie eats kitchen cabinets, has gnawed holes in the deck and has completely girdled a medium-sized birch tree. He has been checked by the vet for signs of gum soreness or impacted teeth and has no physical reason for this obsession with wood. He is otherwise a gentle (for a Jack Russell Terrier), slightly fearful, still hugely affectionate dog.
Ollie is available for adoption on Petfinder.com.
George
from Shannon Larson of Xoloitzcuintli Rescue League, Brooks, AB
George is in foster care. He is having a lot of trouble with his housetraining and his barking. He has been with us a while for these reasons and his foster mom can't seem to train him.
Trojan
from Donna Forster of Greyhound Adoption Kennel, North Fort Myers, FL
Trojan suffers from a severe identity crisis. He doesn't seem to believe he's a retired racing greyhound but an Iditarod sled dog preparing for the first mush.
When you put a leash on Trojan, mushing will commence at 40 mph whether you are willing or not. Aside from this small fact, he would make a wonderful pet, but has been unadoptable because of this problem. He is five years old and has been at our kennel since July 11, 2006.
Please help us so we can help Trojan.
Trojan is available for adoption on Petfinder.com.
Charlize
from Rosie Young of Bastrop County Animal Control, Bastrop, TX
Currently we have a dog that came into the shelter through a cruelty case. She had lived her life on the end of a short chain.
Charlize is the dog that everyone walks past because she is not that cute puppy with the sad eyes sitting in a cage. She is actually bouncing off the walls doing flips in her kennel.
We have limited funds and I've placed an ad hoping for a dog trainer to volunteer their time in helping teach Charlize some obedience to increase her chance of finding a home. PLEASE, call me, Victoria!
Charlize is available for adoption on Petfinder.com.
