A Pit Bull saves his person’s life

Jackie Bonasera was drying her hair in an upstairs bathroom in her Long Island, NY, home when her dog began barking. It wasn’t like him, so she ran downstairs to see what was wrong. Flames were shooting up one side of the garage.

Kaydence is an adoptable Pit Bull at Out of the Pits in Albany, NY.

She ran outside, and then realized Cain hadn’t come out with her. “So I just put my robe over my face and I ran back in and I grabbed the dog and then I stood out here and I watched my house burn,” she said in an interview with Pei-Sze Chang at NBCNewYork.com.

Bonasera’s daughter, Alexus Stallworth, was approaching the house and took video of the fire with her cellphone. She had praise for Cain, who is a Pit Bull. “They have bad reps, but he’s such a good boy.”

Pit Bulls suffer from bad press because some people have used their strength and loyalty for no good purpose. But, in truth, they are generally loving, loyal dogs, a fact on which Jackie Bonaserra would bet her life.
