It just took a clever move by Elizabeth Bullock of Burleson, Texas, to make her dad see the light. She had been checking Petfinder.com regularly, and one day she stumbled across the photo of Muggins — then known as Camron — listed by the Humane Society of North Texas in Fort Worth.
“I left the window with Muggins’ Petfinder profile up on my dad’s computer for him to find when he got home,” she says. “Sure enough, when he got home, he told me it wasn’t fair that I had left a picture of an adorable adoptable puppy on his computer.”
But it worked.
They emailed back and forth with Muggins’ foster mom and learned all about him. Then they met him, and he became part of their family.
He has learned lots of commands, Elizabeth reports, and is growing like a weed. Being a Rhodesian Ridgeback, that was to be expected, of course.
She shows her big boy off on regular trips with her to the local nursing
home, where he charms the staff and residents. “I am looking forward to
many, MANY more years with our new little fellow,” she says.
Elizabeth’s foresight won the day — in this case, the dog.
