Casper is available for adoption at the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley in Howes Cave, NY.
Here at the Petfinder.com Foundation we just awarded two disaster grants to help two rescues rebuild and recover from natural disasters. One grant went to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley in Howes Cave, NY, which recently suffered major wind damage to its roof. Subsequent rains caused flooding damage inside the shelter, and staffers are still using buckets to catch the water. The water is causing ongoing damage to the building as well as harming the pets who are still living inside. The shelter does not have insurance that will cover this damage.
As members of Petfinder.com, the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley
applied for a Petfinder.com
Foundation disaster grant. The application was reviewed and
approved by our staff and board, and the shelter will be receiving a
$5,000 grant which its staff can put toward supplies and repairs to the
building as well as the care and feeding of the animals.
The second grant is going to Tennessee's Nashville Cat Rescue, which was hit hard by the recent floods in the state. The rescue has taken in several cats over the past week for people displaced by the floods. Staffers are in need of supplies and meds to care for the cats they have and the ones that they are taking in.
Just like the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, Nashville Cat Rescue staffers went onto our Web site and downloaded a Disaster Fund Grant Request Form. They will receive a $3,000 grant to use for supplies and meds, as well as to care for and feed their cats.
A huge thanks to our partners at Merial who provide funding to the Petfinder.com Foundation through their Paws to Save Pets program. For more information about Paws to Save Pets, visit http://us.merial.com/pawstosavepets/.
