Before Petfinder, I was an editor at People.com, so I've got a secret interest in all things celebrity. I've also got a mental tally of celebrities who adopted their pets, and I'm always happy to add another one to the list.
So I was thrilled yesterday to read the new issue of the New York Post's Page Six magazine and learn that cover girl Gabrielle Union is the proud mama of three dogs:
Bubba, a mastiff-American bulldog mix; Pink, a pit bull-Dalmatian mix; and Bobby Hurley (named for the basketball player), a Maltese. (Read the full story here.)Oh, and if anyone wants live like a celebrity, it's easy to find a mastiff-American bulldog mix (like June, left, at Friends of Linden Animal Shelter in Linden, NJ), a pit-Dalmatian mix (like Chablis, center, at Pet Paws for Love in Garfield, NJ), or a Maltese (like Billie, right, at Metropolitan Maltese Rescue in NYC) on Petfinder!

I would love to tell you about the lucky pet we had adopted by a STAR! In January I was handed a note with a phone number and the name Peter who was interested in a little guy we had on petfinder named "Buddy". Buddy wa a Border Terrier mix who had been with us for a while, and we were worried about his future. I was thrilled that someone was asking about him. I called Peter and after explaining that Buddy's future was unknown, Peter asked how far we were from Dallas, Texas. I swallowed hard and said "Over 4 hours", Peter never missed a beat and said, "OK, I jumping in my car and I'm on the way". I was sooo excited that this gentleman would drive so far to look at a pet. He showed up and I thought to myself "Where have I seen you before?, Maybe the bank? Wow, you look like someone I've seen on TV, maybe?" He was so nice and fell in love with Buddy the moment he saw him. He asked if we could bathe Buddy and we talked about dogs and such as we cleaned Buddy up. He told me he was getting a good vibe about Buddy and that he would adopt him. Yeah! It wasn't until after we completed all the adoption paperwork and left with Buddy ,who helping him navigate, that someone asked "Rosie, do you know who that was????" and I replied "Yea, Peter MacNichol, who drove all the way from Dallas to adopt one of our pets". Then they googled him and I was like "OMG, he's a STAR!!" Peter, has starred in numerous roles on TV as well as Movies (Ally McBeal, 24, NUMB3RS, Sophie's Choice, etc). Well Buddy who is now "Micky" lives in L.A. with the MacNichols! What a happy ending for a dog who months earlier was living on the streets!!
