It was January and my birthday was just around the corner. For months I'd been volunteering at a shelter and desperately wanted to adopt another cat. We already had a 16 year old cat that was as low maintenance as can be so the thought of bringing in another one didn't worry us too much. I began browsing Petfinder to find my new love. I carefully looked through picture after picture, shelter after shelter, writing down possible names that would be a good match to our family. We visited the Humane Society of Greater Nashua the next day where my family was captivated by the playful cats with striking markings. That's when I fell in love. It was love at first sight. He was all black lingering at the back of his cage. I could understand why after being passed up for over 5 months. My mom was quick to pull me away from him too look at "prettier" cats. I was firm that he was the cat for me. We asked a volunteer about him and she went on to say he needed a special diet and probiotics everyday. It didn't matter to me and after a tear or two of joy Stallone came home with me that day. He is my pride and joy. He came out of his shell and continues to amaze me every day. He loves playing with shoe strings and taking walks outside of his leash. People say when they adopt an animal "who rescued who?" and that was the case for me. Stallone has made me appreciate the little things in life and slow down to enjoy nature (he doesn't walk very fast on his leash). I cherish Stallone and he's now safe in his new furrever home. I look forward to many more birthdays with my baby.
