When I saw Poppy's picture, her hair was matted and you would never know how beautiful she would turn out to be. I only know my heart leapt at the sight of her and my heart said "That's my dog!"
Her story was a sad one. At 10 years old her people dumped her in a kill shelter. Fortunately someone recognized that she was a purebred Schnauzer and called New Jersey Schnauzer Rescue Network (NJSRN). When they picked her up she hadn't been spayed, most of her teeth were rotted and needed to be extracted, and she had an upper respiratory infection. The NJSRN did an outstanding job!! They spayed her, cleaned and extracted some of her teeth, put her on antibiotic and gave a much needed bath and haircut and good food.
Since she has come to live with me and my four felines, she has come to life! She has a hardy appetite and loves to play with her feline sisters. She has soft toys she likes to drag around and sleep with. She loves to cuddle and hops around like a bunny when she's excited. She's big on hugs and kisses and likes to sleep beside me in the big girl bed.
Poppy has shown me that forgive and forget is the key to a happy life. She has brought joy and massive silliness to our house and everyday is a lesson in the power of resiliency. I can't imagine my life without her.
