After unexpectedly losing the cagemate for a baby rat, I searched high and low for a companion, eventually winding up at local Humane Society after seeing on Petfinder that they had a litter up for adoption. I didn't want another black rat, as I already had one, but he melted my heart as soon as he snuggled into my arms. His one fault was he had been abandoned and was not well socialized. It took three months of working with him, and everyday has been a challenge, but he has grown to trust me and loves his new life. He enjoys the company of his cagemate, roughhousing, and going for shoulder rides. I hope he is as happy as he has made me.
