Willie Nelson - A Petfinder Happy Tail

Adopted Dog

Adopted from Animal Welfare Society of Howard County, MD, MD.

I found this 10- year-old little guy on Petfinder a year ago. He was bald, skinny and stinky and had severe gum disease as a result of prolonged neglect and abuse. Despite the rugged life he had obviously endured, his wonderful spirit brightened my life and the lives of everyone who met him. He had the demeanor of a little middle-aged hippie troubadour, so I named him Willie Nelson. With lots of TLC and wonderful veterinarian care funded by a good chunk of my 2008 stimulus check, Willie got back to a healthy weight, grew all his hair back, and turned into a gorgeous Shnoodle! He did lose 11 teeth during his gum disease treatment, but he is doing just fine and even chews his daily dental bone to keep his six remaining teeth healthy. We enjoy our long walks, hikes and road trips together. He is the best dog I could have ever wished for, and I hope that his story inspires others to rescue senior dogs like him.
