When we decided to add to our family, we began doing our research. Everything we read pointed us to Pit Bulls. Regardless of what the media says, we knew this breed would be what we were looking for. Little did we know that an amazing seven-year-old female Pit Bull mix had been lingering in a veterinary clinic in Queens, N.Y., for almost a year waiting for us! Everyone before us thought she was too big -- not to mention being a Pit Bull. The day we went to meet Diva, she greeted us like a long-lost love. It's been over a year now since we adopted Diva, and she has brought the greatest joy to our lives. The love, companionship, and laughter we share can't possibly be measured. It's a crying shame that this beautiful, loving breed stands in jeopardy of extinction because a small number of irresponsible owners have capitalized on the breed's desire to please by turning them into the vicious monsters that have captured the media's attention. Those of us who love them can only pray that there are enough owners, legislators and media members who understand and value these precious Pit Bulls and will speak out for them before it's too late to save them. Every Pit Bull can't be OUR Diva.............but every Pit Bull deserves to be treated like one. Our sincerest thanks to For Our Friends, Inc. and to Petfinder.com for all they have done for all other-than-human family members everywhere.
