I was moving into the pet friendly condo I own and started looking on Petfinder for the perfect dog to adopt--even though my move-in date was a year away! I wanted an adult medium-large mix-breed and I saw a picture of a beautiful Shepherd-mix named Ellie. She was found abandoned at just five weeks old. Her ear was mutilated and her foot was barely attached and needed to be amputated. When I discovered her on Petfinder, she was already about a year old and still waiting for a forever home. She was being fostered by Gulfstream Guardian Angels Rottweiler Rescue in Miami. Her story touched my heart. I was very interested in adopting her but I knew it would be months before I could give her a home. As fate would have it, she was waiting for me. Months later she had not yet been adopted and, when I met her, I instantly fell in love with her sweetness and zest! I couldn't wait to bring her home when I moved later that month. In fact, I adopted her the very day I moved into my condo. I renamed her Viva - to celebrate her life. She runs like she is not missing a foot and is the most loving dog. She even gets along with my adopted two-pound rabbit! We have been a happy family since June.
