I had never had a dog before, but after reading a story about puppy mills, I was inspired to adopt. Initially I thought I should get a puppy, and then I saw the picture of Jellybean. Although she is six years old, there was something about her and her story that pulled at my heart strings. She was a breeder/survivor of a puppy mill: What teeth she had left were in terrible condition, her paws were soft and spread from being kept in a wire cage for so long, she had had so many litters, her ribs had expanded...and she was terribly shy. Somehow I knew she was the dog for me. We have been friends now for three months, and she is the greatest! She is potty trained, knows her commands, and LOVES to go on boat rides. She is such a happy affectionate dog, and I can't imagine how anyone could have mistreated her! Please rescue a dog! It will enrich your life!
